Detailed Case Study:

Problem Description

The Audit Services group at SGI wanted to introduce web-based audits for the Controls Self Assessment (CSA) program conducted for its subsidiaries in 24 different countries. The process involves developing questionnaires for different function areas, sending questions to the participants, collecting responses and generating reports. Some of the factors that made the exercise really complex included:

  • Generation of large questionnaires.
  • Continuous enhancement of the questionnaires.
  • Compiling responses and completing the cycle in a three-week timeframe.

    InfoSTEP Solution

Create and deploy a feedback-enabled risk assessment tool for CSA based on the eLustro platform.

SGI decided to use eLustro as an application service from InfoSTEP. With InfoSTEP's help, SGI rolled out its web-based CSA program in a mere four-week's time.

The eLustro API was put to use for building the required infrastructure on an audit server at SGI. The server was linked to eLustro-ASP servers to provide a seamless audit solution. eLustro-Adhoc was used to generate customized reports.

The sequence of events is as follows

  • The questionnaires are broadcasted to the countries
  • Reminders are sent at the end of each week
  • Intermediate reports are generated for auditors
  • The questionnaire is inactivated
  • Final reports are generated
  • Review comments are posted on the web site

    Benefits

  • SGI is now able to complete its audit in three weeks for all of its 24 international subsidiaries.
  • All the audit information is archived and is available in an analytic format for future use.
